■ The Minister of Defence (the Hc> F. Jones) will leave for North Auckland this evening. He expects to be absent about a week. The Minister of Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) left last night on a visit to Christchurch and Ashburton. He is due to return on Sunday morning. The Rev.- C. G. Chalmer, formerly of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Epsom, returned to Auckland yesterday by the Rotorua after being stationed for two years at Pendlebury, near, Blackpool, England. The Rev. C. P. Webster, formerly of Wiltshire, arrived at Auckland from London by the Rotorua yesterday to take up duties at Mangaweka. Mr. Webster, who has come. to New Zealand for health reasons, was at one time chaplain to the Bishop of Gibraltar. ■ ' ■--■': The Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) has left Wellington for a few days' holiday. . ■ /. Mr. E. A. R. Jones left Wellington by the Wanganella last night on a business visit to Sydney. He will be aavoy for about three weeks. Lieutenant-Commander W. G. Hewson, whose term of service with the New Zealand Navy has expired, left Wellington, accompanied by Mrs. Hewson, by the Wanganella for Sydney last night. From Australia they will return to England
