CYCLIST DISQUALIFIED

' (By Telegraph—Press Association.! CHRISTCHURCH, May 11.

G. R. Giles was disqualified for two years by the. Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association.

'' Giles, it was stated, rode as an amateur at English Park, Christchurch, and, after gaining a 'financial clearance from his club, he entered for events at Ashburton on March 19. He applied for a clearance from the association, this being necessary before he could compete as a professional. He sent, however, a copy only of his clearance from his club to be endorsed by the i association. He was not granted a clearance from the ! association, as he was on one year's probation for-a breach of the association's rules and also because he was held by a bond signed in- 1936 promising the Olympic Games Association that he would not turn professional until two years had elapsed from the time of his return to New Zealand late in 1936 after attending the Olympic Games at Berlin. He had turned professional and broken i the bond.
