SEPARATION PLEA FAILS

' - The dismissal of a summons by Mrs. Anne Mitchell for a speration order on the grounds of cruelty and desertion throws light on a certain type of Mayfair life.
One of her witnesses, Peter Jenkins, was sentenced for a West End jewellery robbery.'
L The husband, Paul Mitchell, admitted to t£e "Daily Mail" that he married for money. He thought he was infatuated with the film actress Mary Carlisle, to whom he proposed by transatlantic telephone the night before he married Anne.
Anne inherited £15,000 which was payable on the day of her wedding, and s'ne gave him £1500. He went abroad and did not see her for four months and was now living penniless with his mother after 'dissipating £30,000 which he made on the Stock Exchange, He is under probation in connection with a sentence for share pushing. Anne, who is 22 years of age, 6aid that high life in the West End after her convent ediMMiiion turned her head, She and F.rdl ojrreed to marry in order to raise money, She took off her wedding ring immediately after leaving the register office.
Anne's father said that he saw Paul only once, and told him what he thought of him.
