SENIOR MAGISTRATE
WELLINGTON POST
APPOINTMENT OF MR.
J. L. STOUT
Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., of Palmerston North, will succeed Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., as senior Stipendiary Magistrate at Wellington, according to an announcement made by the Minister of Justice (the Hon. H. G. R. Mason) last night. Mr. Mosley is retiring from the position on June 20 for health reasons, and Mr. Stout will take up his duties on the expiry of the leave granted to Mr. Mosley.
Mr. John Logan Stout, who was born in 1879, is the eldest son of the late Sir Robert Stout He was educated at Nelson College, Otago Boys' High School, and Victoria University College, graduating LL.B. in 1905. He was editor of the New Zealand Law Reports from 1910 to 1915, and was appointed a Magistrate in 1915. In that capacity he served in Central Otago and at • Westport, and 19 years ago was transferred to Palmerston North, where he has since, been stationed. In collaboration with his father he published-a history of New Zealand. 1
