DON ERMA'S COLOURS

Though Don Erma was . winner of the Adamson Steeplecase at Hawera on Saturday, there was nothing really impressive about 'his success, except that he gave a faultless exhibition of jumping. It was generally believed that he was not forward enough even for the two mites, hence his fourth favouritism in the field of five. _ Don Erma is again racing this winter in the colours of Mr. S. E. Cleaver, Of New Plymouth, whose two years lease of him does not expire till July 31. He is owned by Mrs, E. Paterson. and earlier in his career he was raced on lease by Messrs. S. G. and E. H. Davidson, of Nukumai fame. Mr. Cleaver also .has Book Law at present carrying his colours, but this hurdler will have to be carefully placed for wins on his Egmont showings. Previously Mr. Cleaver raced Passin' Through' with notable success, and some seasons back he had another useful jumper in Kaola.
