OBITUARY
' CAPTAIN C. C. TURNER
Captain C. G. Turner., master of the steamer James' Cook, which is frequently in New Zealand ports, died suddenly at Melbourne on Sunday, according to a cable message received by Captain S. Holm. Captain Turner* who was formerly in the service of the Union Steam Ship Company and later an officer of R. S. Lamb and Company, of Sydney, was well known in .the Dominion. When. Lamb's steamers were acquired by the Union Company he was chief officer of the Kalingo. Captain Turner was later employed by H. C. Sleigh, Limited, of Melbourne, and before he took command of the James Cook was for some time in the Abel Tasman. The new steamer Matthew Flinders, which is being built in Scotland for H. C. Sleigh, Ltd., was to have been brought out by Captain Turner.
