COLLEGE TEACHERS

AMALGAMATION QUESTION

Rescinding its decision of yesterday to adopt a recommendation of a subcommittee that the issue of the amalgamation of the New Zealand Technical School Teachers' Association and the New Zealand Secondary Schools' Association be allowed temporarily to drop, the annual conference of the Technical School Teachers' Association today substituted a motion that a further ballot of association members be taken on the question after the whole situation has been explored by a joint committee of the two associations and a report has been brought down.

There was a sharp division of opinion on the advisability of amalgamation, which was expected to be further discussed at a joint session of the conferences of the two associations this afternoon.
