THE FRANKLIN MEETING (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 7. The Franklin Racing Club's Winter Meeting wa? held in fine but dull weather, the track being holding after rain. There was a large attendance, and the totalisator handled £28,019 for seven races, compared with £34,523 for eight last year. In the principal event, the President's Handicap, the little-fancied Cheval De Volee won nicely from Light Comedy, who was also at good odds, with Miss Lu filling the minor placing.
