On Saturday a rather deep secondary westerly depression was crossing the South Island and a change to south-westerly winds accompanied by showers In many places moved uji the South Island' during the night, reaching Cook Strait at about 4 a.m. oil Sunday. Another slight westerly depression Is now approaching. At the same time a rather shallow depression has been moving ,in a south-easterly direction past' Norfolk Island and northern New Zealand. It is now centred north of East Cape. It has caused south-easterly winds over the North Island and scattered rains in the Auckland and Hawkc's Bay provinces. Temperatures fell sharply during Saturday night and Sunday morning, and last night there were many frosts In the South Island. . TODAY'S WEATHER.
