IRON GUARD LEADER

BUCHAREST, April 19.
M. Codreanu, leader of the Iron Guard, was tried on a charge of slander, contained in a letter to Professor Jorga, when the latter was a member of Cabinet.
M. Codreanu's defence was that he did not insult Professor Jorga as a memb.er of Cabinet, but in his capacity as a journalist, regarding his articles attacking the Iron Guard in a newspaper which he owned.
M. Codreanu was sentenced to six months' imprisonment and was fined the equivalent of £3.
Charges of subversive activities are also to be laid against him.
