MR.A.B. FILSON YOUNG
(Received April 20, 1 p.m.) ' LONDON, April 19. Mr. A. B. Filson Young, the author and war -correspondent is dead.
Alexander Bell' Filson Young was born at Ballyeaston, Ireland, in' 1876. He was- correspondent for the "Manchester Guardian" in the South African War and later literary editor of the "Daily Mail" and editor of "The Outlook." He1 did hospital organisation work and then served with the Navy in the World War and in 1916 became a war correspondent in France.' In 1917-19 he was in Spain and Portugal as correspondent of "The Times." From 1926 he was Adviser on Programmes to the British Broadcasting Corporation. He published many works, including volumes on Bywaters and Thompson and Armstrong in the Notable British Trials series, a life of Columbus, travel books, and essays. .
