INTRODUCTIONS ONLY

There always a difficulty in arranging' the programme of speeches for the opening night of; the -city election campaign, for there are many candidates and time is limited. Last night the address made by: the: Mayor occupied almost an hour, and the candidates listed to speak could no more than make a bow to the audience, which, for an opening meeting, was a very fair one indeed. The candidates were Messrs, W. Appleton, Duncan, Forsyth, M. Fraser, M. F. Luckie, M. G. C. McCaul, L. McKenzie, for the City Council;: Mrs. Knox Gilmer and the Rev. F. J. Usher, for the Hospital Board; and Sir Charles Norwood and Captain S. S, Holm, for the Harbour Board.
