ON TRENTHAM TRACKS

WAIRARAPA TRIALS

ACCOMPLICE GOING NORTH

(By "Rangatira.")

Trentham stables will have a heavy battery for the attack on the Wairarapa stakes over the Easter holidays, one of the strongest contingents they have ever sent to this meeting. Usually the centre's, horses are well distributed it this period of the season, but this year only one horse is going to Ellerslie, one to Riccarton,' and four or five to Feilding. The tracks were busy this morning. The galloping was done on the trial |rass, which was dead after yesterday's rain. Accomplice (G. Flood) and Good Sun (S. G. Hobinson) both acquitted themselves well over 11 miles, running the last mile in lmin 45sec and the last half-mile in 51 3-ssec. It was the best effort over the distance during ths morning, and the pair finished head and head. Accomplice leaves for Ellerslie on Tuesday to contest the Great Northern Oaks, in which she will be ridden by C. G. Goulsbro', and in which, with the running to suit, she is expected to go a great race, despite the better credentials on paper of some of her opponents, such as Icing, Wildflower, Airam, and Glenogle Good Sun is likely to run in the mile at Tauherenikau in preference to the longer, handicap, but no rider has yet been secured for him. Arctic King (S. Wilson) was too seasoned for his maiden opponent Dame Flora (V. Bevan) over half a mile in 51 2-ssec, finishing three lengths in front and doing it well. He goes south next Friday, and will be ridden by Wilson in both the Sockburn and Great Autumn Handicaps. He appears better now than at any time since his resumption. Success in the Sockburn would not entail a penalty in the Great Autumn. . DRACHMA FOR FEILDING. T. R. George's only candidate for Feilding will now be Drachma, who will be ridden each day by R. Sargent. Drachma (W. Doyle) beat Dorak (Wilson) this morning by four lengths over half a mile in 51 l-ssec, the brown colt not handling the track at all well. Alunga (A. W. Sim) ran six furlongs alone in lmin 18 3-ssec, the last halfmile in 52 3-ssec. He will race at Wairarapa in preference to Feilding. _ Might (Doyle) revelled in the conditions, running away from Liane (A. E. Bennet) and Sunny Blonde (R. B. Lorigan) over a smart seven furlongs in lmin 31 3-ssec, the last half-mile in 52 4-ssec. Sunny Blonde would not go at all, but Liane might have made a better showing if she had not had to jump a trestle. Myriam (Wilson) accounted for Body line (R. A. Hawkings) by four lengths over fivefurlongs in lmin 4sec, the last half-mile in:slsec. Body line would not hit out at all •on the dead going. Roaming (C. Sargent) pulled early in seven furlongs in lmin 33sec, the last half-mile in 55sec. A decision as to whether he would race at Feilding or Wairarapa was to have been rmade this afternoon. >If he goes to Feilding A. Sagar will'dp the riding. Bodyline and White Lady are to attend Tauherenikau in preference to Feilding. White Lady (Hawkings) and Twenty Grand (Lorigan) ran half a mile together in 51sec. Yours Truly (L. T. Nesbitt) was too. good for Dissipation (Wilson) over the same distance in 51 3-ssec. Ugly Duckling (F. N. Power) went one of his best trials in beating Beauly (Sargent) by a length in 51sec. Lady Lyric (Lorigan) took the honours among the juveniles in just beating Diareus (Hawkings) in 50 2-ssec. Piastre (Bennet), Floral Robe (Wilson), and Lady Baron (Doyle) took 52 sec. Sunbeam (P. Burgess) easily beat Laggard (J. McCauley) and Sunder (Lorigan) over six furlongs in lmin 21sec. Dancing Flame (Hawkings) ran the. distance alone in lmin 20sec, the last half-mile in 53 3-ssec. SIGURD AND DEBHAM. Sigurd (Flood) again went well in just beating Debham (Wilson) over five furlongs in lmin 3sec, the last halfmile in 50 l-ssec. Tom Tom (Burgess) handled the going much better than Gay Hunting (Bevan) over five furlongs in lmin 6 • 3-ssec, the last half-mile in 53 l-ssec.

Another maiden, Protectress (Wilson) ran away from Quexona (Bennet) at the end of a similar task in lmin ssec, the last half-mile in 52sec.

Siegmund (Wilson) went one of his best gallops on a dead track in comfortably beating Matoru (McCaulcy) over six furlongs in lmin 18 3-ssec, the last half-mile in 52 4-ssec. ' Siegmund, Matoru, Laggard, and Lustral will probably all be racing at Feilding. No rider has yet been engaged for Siegmund in the Feilding Cup, as P. Burgess will now be at Tauherenikau.

Trebor (Bennet) beat Alloa (Sim), with Free Gold (R. D. Gerrard) stopping, at the end of six furlongs in lmin 19sec, the last half-mile in 54sec. Alloa was finishing on, but Trebor had something in hand. Free Gold does not seem to be going nearly as well now as he once did.

Galteemore (Bennet) was always ahead of Boomerang (Doyle) over a mile run in lmin 45 2-ssec, the first half in 52 l-ssec and the last half in 53 l-ssec. Boomerang went over more ground on the outer, but he was unable to catch his companion, who finished a length and a half in front.

Red Sun (M. Reardon) was schooled over five fences, a brush twice, and three hurdles. He jumped strongly all the way and afterwards did a solid round of pacing. His stablemate Sunee is still on the easy list. Beau Gallante was exercised by his trainer, but was not schooled.

Some riding engagements announced for Tauherenikau are:—S. Wilson, Boomerang, Sigurd, White Lady, Majority, Debham, Le Toquet, Gay Hunting; P. Burgess, Master Cyklon, Southern Blood, Jewish Lad, Rarotonga; A. Jenkins, Lucullus Lad; C. P. Sheild, Tiger Gain; W. Doyle, Alunga (open six), Galteemore, Lady Siegfried. Floral Robe, Free Gold. Protectress; A. E. Bennet, Alloa, Piastre, Trebor, Girl Pat, Liane; A. W. Sim, Might; F. N. Power, Ugly Duckling; C. Sargent, Sunder.
