NEW ZEALAND NEWSPAPERS
A compilation which,, owing to the thoroughness of its preparation should be of great value to historians and other research workers, is "A Union Catalogue of New Zealand Newspapers." This is the work of Dr. G. H. Scholefield, and gives a list of the newspapers preserved in public libraries, newspaper offices, etc. All daily and periodical publications which from time to time have made their appearance in New Zealand are included in the list, but only those which purport to give a chronicle of events, in however restricted a field, as distinguished from those which are merely magazines or commentaries. It will be noted that the only complete files of the "Evening Post" from the date of its first issue on February 8, 1865, are to be found in that paper's offices. None of the libraries, apparently, possess complete files.
