A LAMP BESTOWED

TOC H CEREMONY

Some 50 members arid .friends of the Toe H movement were presept last night at- the headquarters of the Wellington South branch, when a lamp was bestowed' upon the branch. The lamp was that carried by Dr. "\F. T. Bowerbank, the Dominion- chairman, at the ceremony at. York on December 12, 1937, and is to be called the T. Fielden Taylor Lamp."

A brief survey of the life of the Rev. T. Fielden Taylor was? given by Mr. R. Walpol, at the conclusion-of which the lights were extinguished. A knock was then heard at the door, and in answer to the branch chairman's challenge, "Who goes there?" a voice replied, "The bearer of light." Then followed the ceremony of bestowal.

The dedicating office*- then pronounced the main resolution: "Remembering with gratitude how God used the Old House to bring Home to -multitudes of men that behind the ebb and flow of things temporal stand the eternal realities, and to send them forth strengthened to fight at all costs for the setting up of His Kingdom on earth; we pledge ourselves to strive to listen now and always to the voice of God, to know His will revealed in Christ, and to do it fearlessly, reckoning nothing of the world's opinion on its successes for ourselves or this our family; and towards this end to think fairly, to love widely,, to witness humbly, to build bravely."

. The lamp was then handed over to the chairman of the Wellington branch for safe keeping, with the following charge: "The Fielden Taylor Lamp is delivered into your keeping. See to it, then, that nothing keeps your light from shining out clearly in the sight of all men, so that they may notice the beauty of the things that you do and learH to think better of your Father God because they have known you." • ..

-Dr. Bowerbank then gave his impressions of the lighting ceremony at York on December 11, at which 90 lamps representing new branches were lit.
