SQUABBLE RANKLES

COOL WELCOME BACK

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE TEAM

SYDNEY, March 24.

The Australian Rugby League team returned to Sydney today after its English tour, but following, the squabble between the 11 team's managers and the Australian Board of Control no official welcome was accorded the team.

When Mr. H. Flegg, chairman of the Board of Control, met the team managers, Mr. H. Sunderland and Mr. Savage, they refused to shake hands with him.

It was reported by cablegram on January 14 that the Australian Rugby League team was incensed by receiving a cable from the secretary of the Australian Rugby League (Mr. .H. R. Miller) demanding that it should embark on the Orcades at Toulon. The entire party was determined to sail by the Orama from London on February 12. The co-managers, Messrs. Sunderland and Savage, sent a cable to Mr. 'Flegg, ihairman of the Australian Board of Control, as follows:^—"lnstruct Miller to cease cabling in reference to our sailing. We are the managers of the Kangaroos, not i-dotters or t-crossers. Definitely sailing by the Orama on February 12. Not spending further money on. unnecessary cables." t •;
