OPIUM CONCEALED IN BOOK

DANNKEVIRKE, March 24.
A novel method of conveying opium through the Post Office was disclosed in the prosecution of Shu Harry Kwong, a Chinese, chef at a Danne T virke hotel,, who was- charged before Mr.J. Miller, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court with being in possession of prepared opium. ~.'•'■ Transmission through the post was effected by the use of. a'novel .entitled "Alias the Saint," from which- ■ pages in the centre had-been, removed to .provide a receptacle for the .■ package containing the-opiUmi :The opium.was allegedly sent'from Wellington. ; : .; The defendant' Was flned<;.'£.-25 (1 -, -. ;
