FENWICK MEMORIAL SHIELD

The second contest for the Fenwick Memorial Shield, between the Hutt and Petone Swimming Clubs, was held at the McKenzie Baths last evening, and resulted in a win for the Hutt team by a fair margin. Because of the lateness of the season! both clubs had to rely on emergencies, but the teams put up a fine effort. Dr. J. Harding, the president of the Petone Club, presented the shield and congratulated the Hutt team on its good win and fine sporting spirit. The teams for the Fenwick Memorial Shield were as follows: —

Hutt.—H. Warburton, N. Lines, G. Balfour (captain), P. Isherwood, F. Graham, H. Wright, Misses W. Pritchard and E. Nesbit.

Petone.—C. Harvey, J. May, V. Bennett (captain), A. Carruthers, J. Dougan, T. Te Puni, Misses B. Strang and Z. Strickland.

Other results, were as follows:— Junior Girls 33 l-3yds.—M. Cleland 1, M. Helson 2, B. Torrence 3. Time, 30sec. Junioi1 Boys 33 l-3yds.—W. Kyle 1, R. Peel 2, E. Jones 3. Time, 22sec. Cubs 33 l-3yds.—lan'Cleland 1, P. Marshall 2. Time, 38sec. The water-polo match, Petone C v. Hataitai C, resulted in a win for Petone by 2 goals to nil. Mr. W. Bousefield was referee.
