The Royal Geographical Society has announced that the King has approved of the awarding of the Founder's Medal to Mr. John Rymill in recognition of his organisation and leadership of the Grahamland Expedition in 1934-37; the Patron's Medal to Mr. Eric Shipton for exploration in the neighbourhood of Mount Nanda Dcvi and Mount Everest, arid his conduct of the expedition in. 1937, and the Gill Memorial award to Mr. Ivan Champam for exploration itt Papua.
