BUTTERFAT BONUS
A PUBLISHED RUMOUR
"I don't know anything atiout it," stated the Minister of Marketing (the H<sn. W. Nash) today, when a rumour that the Government was going to make a bonus pay-out to dairy farmers was brought to his notice.
The rumour took the form of a report published in the "Te Awamutu Courier" this week. It stated that "the Government, at the suggestion of the Minister of Marketing, has decided to make a payment to dairy farmers in'the-shape of a bonus, which will absorb all the surplus in hand., It is impossible to forecast at the moment the exact figure per lb butterfat the bonus will reach, but it "is known in well-informed circles that officers of the Department are preparing statements with a view to the surplus on the year's operations being paid out direct to suppliers." ,
