VICAR OF ST. LUKE'S
INDUCTION CEREMONY
The induction of the Rev. L. N. Watkins as vicar of St. Luke's, Wadestown, took place last evening. The ceremony was conducted by the Bishop of Wellington (the Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland), assisted by Archdeacon Hansell and the Bishop's chaplain. A number of visitj/.g clergy and a very large congregaticfi attended.
The Bishop delivered an inspiring address. The choir of St. Luke's was augmented by a number of volunteers from St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, the Wadestown organist (Mrs. Eames) playing the accompaniments. After the service, more than 200 parishioners gathered to meet the new ■ vicar and his wife in the Wadestown Parish Hall.
Mr. Watkins comes to Wellington from Mangaweka. He was previously stationed, at Hong Kong, and before that at Leeds. He succeeds the Rev. J. E. Ashley-Jones, who transferred recently to Northland, after 20 years' service at Wadestown, — .
