BACK TO OLD RULES

NEW ZEALAND RUGBY.

A prediction that the proposal to revert to international rules would be carried by an overwhelming majority at the annual meeting of the New, Zealand Rugby Union was made by the Wellington Rugby Union's president (Mr. J.* Prendeville) at the local union's annual meeting last night. He pointed out that in order to avoid, any break so far as rules were concerned the N.Z.R.U. Council had. recommended to the various Rugby Unions that international, rules be played from the commencement of the' season,, as it would not be until May 4 that delegates to the New Zealand Rugby Union would be meeting to make their decision. •

Tha following motion, put forward by Mr. F. J. Tilyard on behalf of the Poneke Football Club, was passed at last night's annual meeting:—"That it be a recommendation to the W.R.F.U. that all games during "the coming season be played under the rules as laid down by the International Board."

It was explained by Mr. Prendeville that this would not affect replacement of injured players, which was a custom and not a rule.
