NO MILITARY HELP
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.)
(Received March 23, 2.35 p.m.)
LONDON, March 22,
The Australian Associated Press understands that today's Cabinet took decisions in connection with Mr. Chamberlain's statement to be made in the House of Commons on Thursday redefining Britain's foreign policy. The statement is now being drafted.
Meanwhile it is gathered that lengthy dispatches 'have been sent to the Dominions in ample time for them to make observations if they so desire before Thursday, when the phrasing of Mr. Chamberlain's statement may be varied in the light of Dominion comments. • I Nothing has occurred to suggest that Mr. Chamberlain's attitude has changed. He sees that the European situation is extremely complex and that the time is inopportune for a definite, binding declaration regardI ing either Czechoslovakia or Spain.
The Government will stand by existing commitments to Czechoslovakia, but will not give a special guarantee of military assistance in the event of attack from Germany.
