SHOCKING SCENE

TRIPLE EXECUTION

AMERICAN CROWD'S BEHAVIOUR

(Received March 23, 2 p.m.)

MOUNDSVILLE (West Virginia), March 22.

The triple execution of the kidnappers of the late Dr. J. Seder provided one of the most astonishing, executions that have ever t/een carried out in America.

As Orville Adkins stepped on the gallows the trap collapsed and he fell into the concrete pit twelve feet below. His face was badly cut and blood gushed from the wounds. Guards carried him back to the platform, where he smilingly ( waited while the damage was repaired and the trap tested.

■ The other two condemned men, Arnett Booth and John Travis, were standing by praying ecstatically and only showed impatience at the inability of the wardens to subdue the behaviour of the eighty guests, whose laughter and joking delayed their farewell addresses. In these they blessed all present. They, said they were anxious to be in Heaven. The gapl warden was so disgusted ■with the conduct displayed by the

crowd that he has announced that he

will not allow any witnesses at future hangings except officials and newspaper men.
