SPEED-UP PROPOSAL

DISCUSSIONS WITH LABOUR

LONDON, March 22.

The "Daily Mail" says & great armament speed-up is foreshadowed in Sir Thomas Inskip's invitation to 36 shipbuilding and engineering unions with a membership of half a million, throughout the country to meet him on March 24 to discuss labour shortage problems, which are understood to include the introduction of labour from other industries, the training of unskilled and semi-skilled workers, and relaxation of the apprenticeship scheme. The Trades Union Congress will discuss these and similar issues at a. special meeting today.
