LITTLE OUTSTANDING

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

MASTERTON, This Day

"This town has again lived up to its reputation," said the Mayor (Mr. T. Jordan) when reporting at last night's meeting of the Masterton Borough Council that at penalty date 96.4 percent, of the current year's rates had been collected.

The total rates struck amounted to £35,200, of which £33,950 was coir lected at discount date, leaving outstanding ' £1250. The percentage of collection was 96.4, leaving 3.6 per cent, outstanding.

Mr. Jordan said he anticipated that the council would finish the year with a credit balance of some £1400, which was approximately the same amount with which they started the year.
