CHURCH

The Lower Hutt Baptist Church held ita ninth anniversary services on Sunday, the Rev. Clifford Reay, of Hamilton, being the speaker at all services. The annual report presented to the church members showed that the year had been the most successful in the church's history. Membership, attendances at services, and Sunday school scholars had all shown considerable increases. Church attendance during the last three years had shown a sixfold average increase, the church offering a like increase.' During the year, by means of two thankofferings, a debt of £225 had been liquidated.

Appreciation of the ministry of the Rev. Hayes Lloyd was expressed in the report The Sunday school showed a steady increase in numbers, and a branch Sunday school established in Epuni had commenced in March, 1937, with an attendance of .15, and now had a. roll of 42.

Appended to the main report were reports from the Christian Endeavour Society, girls' Bible classes, men's Bible classes, Women's Missionary Union, and ladies' guild, all showing increased activity and enthusiastic interest in the work of the church.

An interesting item in the report was the statement that the church provides a free bus for. Sunday school scholars residing a mile distant, the cost being borne by one of the members.

During the year an anonymous donor had given £25 for missions.
