TRADE WITH CARDIFF
MONTHLY SERVICE STARTED
The arrival of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion vessel, Maimoa, at Cardiff recently, states the London correspondent of "The Post", marked the inauguration of trade between New Zealand and the Welsh port on a regular basis. In the past, vessels from the Dominion have discharged at Cardiff at irregular intervals, but henceforth New Zealand produce will be unloaded there monthly. The new arrangement is the result of representations made to the New Zealand Dairy Sales Division in London last year by port and development interests in Cardiff. Regular calls by vessels from the Dominion should benefit the port, and support for New Zealand produce as a result should assist sales in the locality. The Maimoa unloaded 9000cwt of butter and cheese and a large quantity of frozen meat at Cardiff. The next vessel to call there from the Dominion will be the Tekoa, which is scheduled to unload 8000cwt of New Zealand dairy produce on April 3.
