LAST RESPECTS

FUNERAL OF MR, W. T. WYNYARD

As evidence of the esteem in which the late Mr. W. T. Wynyard was held, there was a representative gathering of citizens at his funeral and at the service in St. Paul's Cathedral today. Canon D. J. Davies, vicar of St. Paul's, conducted the services at the church and at the Crematorium, Karori. The chief mourners were Messrs. Clinton Wynyard (a nephew), of Taranaki, and E. H. Binney (brother-in-law), of Auckland. The' pall-bearers were Messrs. J. S. Hanna, S. S. Dean, J. Prendeville, A. Wiren, R. W. Atkinson, and M. Burnett. The various branches of sport with which the late Mr. Wynyard had been associated were represented, as was the' Department of Agriculture (in which Mr. Wynyard had been a member of the clerical staff for many years prior to his retirement), and there were Parliamentary representatives and numerous others who had known the late Mr. Wynyard intimately as a friend.

Apart from the relatives and pallbearers, those present included Dr. C. J. Reakes (former Director-General of the Department of Agriculture), Mr. H. Gerard (as; well as Mr. Atkinson), of the Department- of Agriculture; Mr. T. D. H. Hall, Clerk of the House of Representatives; the Hon. J.- McLeod, M.L.C., and Messrs. S. G. Smith, M.P., W. J. Blundell, J. B. Blundell, M. Blundell, A. J. Dixon, T. R. Lawson, M. F. Luckie, W. F, Airey, J. Murray, A. E. Mabin, T. Gibson, J. Drake, J. Dempster, •G. Didsbury, J. Gage (a son of the late Mr. D. Gage, of the 1883 New Zealand team, of which Mr. Wynyard was a member), J. J. Reich, F. D. Kilby, A. Vamey, R. W. McVilly, H. Amos, T. W Leslie, R. Whyte, D. Calcinai, M. Hyland, R. Bourke, J. Campbell, R. B. Magee, F. Tilyard, F. Bacon, and W. R. King. Sports ; bodies represented included the New Zealand Rugby Union, the Wellington Rughy Union, the Rugby Referees' Association, the Wellington Cricket Association, the Miramar Golf Club, the Porieke, Wellington, Melrose, and other football clubs, and the Wellington and Midland Cricket Clubs.
