h, Ipii'.jiiif.i. I'resi. -Woi'iatior. „ . NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day.
Although women police were not wanted in New ' Zealand,. a great deal of social work and prevention of crime among young people could be effected by women patrols, was the opinion expressed by the national conference of ■ New Zealand Justices of the Peace; at I New Plymouth this morning. A Taranaki remit, that necessary legislation should be enacted to provide for the appointment and training of women, police, was accordingly altered to provide for women patrols. These women would not have power to make arrests, but could take names and addresses and call in the regular police where necessary.
