The fate of M. Chautemps's Government hangs on the outcome of today's meeting of the Socialists and Communists, who are considering Cabinet's demand for full financial powers.
Opposition is coming froin within the Popular Front, for which reason it is possible that M. Chautemps will not wait for the fiasco approaching in the Chamber of Deputies and will resign soon. It is certain that he will be unable to command a- majority.
The basis of the opposition appear* to be a disinclination to grant the Gov1* ernment dictatorial powers. '"
The uncertainty is reflected in the Stock Exchange, the franc being subjected to strong pressure and the sterling rate reaching a new low level of 155J. ;
