INDEPENDENCE ISSUE
A YEAR OF LABOUR
PUBLIC WORKS POLICY
(United Press Association—By Eloctrlo Telesrapb—Copyrißht.) (Received March 10; 9 a.m.) 'LONDON, March 9. A proclamation signed by the Chancellor, Dr. Schuschnigg, states that a vote will be taken on March 13 on the question of a "free Austria," states a message from Vienna. The age limit for voting in the plebiscite will be 24, with a view to excluding extremists. Dr. Schuschnigg received an ovation on his arrival at Innsbruck, and drove through the streets crowded with people and lined with troops to the Imperial Palace, where he began conferences with the authorities and leaders of the Fatherland Front. Later he announced the date of the plebiscite, which will be on the issue, "Do you stand for a" free and independent Austria?"
"The Austrian people," said the Chancellor, "shall now confess before the world whether they are in favour of a free German Austria and the Government's programme of work and peace."
i He said that this year would be a year oi labour, and promised public works which would give employment to 30,000 persons.
