MIRAMAR ESPERANTO SOCIETY
The weekly meeting of the Miramar Esperanto Society was held on. Tuesday night in the clubroom, St.^Aidan s Hall, Miramar Avenue. Mr. Bertram Potts, J.P., presided. Greetings were received from Esperanto societies and individual Esperantists in England, Norway, Netherlands, and Argentina. The president stated that Mr. Henri ■Vf. Thorns, secretary of the Hutt Valley Esperanto. Glub, would shortly leave ifor Auckland, where he had received a lousiness appointment. A send-off evening was. being arranged for March 16 ito take place *ih" "Esperanto Hall, Vicitoria'/Stteet, Wellington, and local lEsperantists; were invited. Greetings •were'extended to Mr.. Tom Owens, a (visiting Wellington Esperantist, who isultably'respoiided. Later, two further from ■•Wellington, were welicomea by the society. Congratulations !were" extendedto. Mr. William Smith iand :Mr; Ray' Strbobant on the enjoy-iable-way'they had presented a short sketch' the'previous week. ! fAfterthe tuition period of one hour, land the enrolment of three new members, an; original Esperanto one-act play iehtitledi "Ho-Ye, la Vidvino!" ("Alas, the Widow!"), written by the president, ; was presented by. Miss Nancy Playter, as'Euphemia Codfish, the widow, Mr. James Makayas, as Simon Crab, the widower, and Mr. Bertram Potts, as Willie Codfish, the widow's son. Mrs. Annie Wells was stage manager.
