JANUARY RETURNS
The Customs Department reports the value of exports for January last at £7,493.000, an increase of £453,000 over those for January, 1937, and £1,395,000 above those 'for January, 1936.
Imports during January were valued at £5,584,000, an increase of £919,000 over those for January, 1937, and nearly £2,000,000 in excess of those lor January, 1936. The overseas trade position for January for the last three years is compared as follows:— Exports. Imports. Excess of
