STORY OF CLEOPATRA

Emil Ludwig, famous as the t>lographer of great men, has written for the first time in his literary career the biography of a woman. His choice, not surprisingly, has fallen upon Cleopatra. It was when he was working upon his recent book, "The Nile: The Life Story of a River," that he became absorbed in the history of Cleopatra and the biography, which is vivid and dramatic, began to shape itself in his mind. Though the great queen is the central figure of the story, the characters of Caesar and Anthony are drawn with th. sure incisive strokes that readers have come to expect in Ludwig and the whole panorama of Egyptian Court and Roman splendour is conjured into being. "Cleopatra" has been published by George Allen and Unwin.
