PLIMMERTON HANDICAP A handicap race for all classes oi boats was held at Plimemrton on Saturday. Ten boats started in a medium northerly wind. The Clyde soon went. to the front, and was first past the buoy in the first round, closely followed by the Tassie, with the rest of the fleet close up and the Vanitie well ahead of her class. In the second round the Tassie was ahead of the Clyde with the Watti and Kia Ora close up. The Tassie kept the lead till the last beat home, when the Watti, coming from fourth place, went ahead to cross the line first. The Vanitie kept the lead of the I-class boats till the Alita passed her, and crossed the finishing line by only one second ahead.- The result on corrected times was as follows:—Watti (scr), 4h 49m 15s, 1; Tassie (scr), 4h 50m 50s, 2; Alita (6min 50sec), 4h 50m 19s, 3; Vanite (6min 45sec), 4h 50m 255, 4; Clyde (scr), 4h 50m 28s, 5; Abbel (16min lOsec), 4h 50m 375, 6; Caprice (6min 55sec), 4h,50m 575, 7; Billyboy (15min 20sec), 4h 51m lOsec, 8; Marino (7miti 45sec), 4h 51m 325, 9; Kia Ora (scr), 4h 51m 40s, 10. YACHTING AT PAREMATA The yearly ocean yacht race was held at Paremata last Sunday in a good northerly breeze, the course be; ing from the Paremata bridge to. Maori Bay buoy, Plimmertori, and back, once round. The Takapuna class, racing for the Holmes trophy, were first away, all going off together, the race being a sealed handicap. Maru was well in the lead at Maori Bay buoy, but was disqualified for taking the buoy the wrong way, and Twink, after a good run home, was first to cross the finishing line. Result: Twink (scr), 1; Robin (scr), 2; Marie was disqualified and Billy Boy and Abbil of Plimmerton, were not eligible. . The Idle Along class started with the first-class boats and compared very favourably with them on the wind, the Watti, of Plimmerton, being the only boat to beat them up to Maori Bay buoy. Vixan and Dora were well in the lead and the finishing order was Vixen, Dora, lanthe, and Vanita. On handicap the result was as follows:— Vixen (2imin), 1; lanthe (lOmin), ,2; Dora (scr). 3. Also started: Vanita (4£min). Valeta and Aloha, of Plimmerton, were not eligible. . The first-class boats had a great tussle air the way round, but Watti, of Plimmerton, drew away from the rest of the fleet and scored an easy win. Lois and Queenie were nex^ in that order and staged a very close finish. Result of handicaps:—Lois (scr), 1; Queehie (scr), 2; Kotuku (scr), 3. Watti, Tassie, and Kio Ora, of Plimmerton, although well placed, were not eligible. , . Both the Idle Along and first-class races were for the Sterling trophies. In the afternoon a resail was held for the first-class and Idle Alongs, and a very close race resulted with yixen Kotuku, Lois, and Dora fighting it out all the way. The wind went down slightly towards the finish and Lois came through and won. Dora and Lois staged a great fight for second place with Dora getting the decision. Result:—Lois (scr), 1; Dora (smin), 2; Kotuku (4min), 3. Also started: Vixen (simm).
