PIGS, POULTRY, AND PRODUCE.

The Dominion Auctioneering Company, Palmerston North, reports conducting its usual f weekly pig and poultry fair on Thursday. Exceedingly large entries of both pigs and poultry came forward. Best weaners realised from 10s to 12s 6d, with a keen demand for good sorts. There was a small improvement in the price ofpoultry, pullets being keenly sought after, best lines realising up to 7s 6d each. There was a yarding of approximately 12 horses, the majority being of poorer quality. Fruit was fairly low in price, due to the very large consignments" arriving daily.:

Quotations:—

Pigs.—Best weaners, from 10s to 12s 6d each; small weaners, from 6s 6d to 8s each; slips.s from 8s to 15s; stores, from 11s to 17s 6d: porkers, to 445. Poultry.—Best White Leghorn hens, 3s to 4s per pair; lighter hens, from 3s to 3s 6d per pair; Black Orpington hens, from 4s 8d to 7s per pair; heavy cockerels, from 6s to 7s per pair; light cockerels from 2s to 4s per pair; ducks, from 2s.to 4s 6d per pair; White Leghorn pullets, from. 4s. 6d to 7s 6d each: Black Orpington pullets, from 6s 3d to 7s 6d each. '

Horses.—Aged geldings, from £5 to £8 10s. .

Produce. —Peaches, best dessert', from 3s to 4s 6d per half-case: cooking peaches, from 2s 9d to 3s 6d per halfcase; plums, cobking, from 2s 6d to 4s per half-case; plums, best dessert, from 4s to 7s 9d per half-case; nectarines, from 3s to 5s 6d per case; apricots, from 8s 6d to 11s per case; tomatoes, from Is to 2s 6d per quarter, and from 2s to 4s per half; apples, Gravensteins from 2s 6d to 6s per bushel, cookers from 3s to 5s per bushel; pears, from 5s to 7s per bushel; raspberries, from 6s to 6s 9d per tin; cucumbers, from Is to 2s 6d per banana-case* beans, from 2s to 4s per bag; peas, from 10s to 18s per bag; lettuce, from 3s to 7s per case; parsnips, from 3s to 4s 3d per case; carrots, from Is 9d to 4s per dozen; potatoes, from 7s to 8s 6d per bag.

Should hot flannels be wanted in a hurry, in case of sickness, fill a hotwater bottle with very hot water, and wrap the flannels round it. This will heat them easily and quickly, and will save tim«.
