Trophies and increased stakes are features oi the programme for the Rangitikei Racing Club's Autumn Meeting, which will-be held at Bulls on Saturday, March 5. The Cup stake has been increased from £200 to £250. the open sprint from £150 to £185, the hurdles from £120 to £150, and hack flat races in proportion. The club has donated a silver tray and tea service for the Bailey Handi-1 cap, and Mr. Jas. Bull has presented a whip for the rider of the winner. Mr. Harry Burt, the well-known former hurdle horseman, has given a whip for j the rider of the hurdle race. The course and enclosures are in good order, and patrons will note sev- j eral improvements, the chief being the imposing mesh-wire fence with concrete posts enclosing the car-park-ing area, thus relieving the congestion usual at the main gates. Nominations for all events close at 9 o'clock on Tuesday evening with the secretary (Mr. E. V. Wilson), Bulls (telephone 05, Bulls). In appreciation of his services as handicapper for about forty years, the North Canterbury Racing Club has elected Mr. J. E. Henrys a life member.
