INDEMNITY PAID
SHOOTING OF FRENCHMAN (Received February 9, 11.50 a.m.) PERPIGNAN, February 8. The Spanish Government has indemnified the family of Sebastian Juanole to the amount of £1300. A cable received on December 8 stated that while returning from aj dance accompanied by his sister and a young Spanish friend who had taken refuge in France, Sebastian Juanole, a French farmer, aged 18,-was shot! dead by Spanish carablniers just in-. Side the French frontier near- St. Laurent de Cerdagne. The carabiniers had told the refugee to follow them across ;the frontier, but he ran away.l Juanole intervened and was shot.' The Spanish authorities later advised the ] \French police that three carabiniers were being charged with- the murder of Juanole, and were being transferred, I to Barcelona for trial.
