. TIME TRIAL AND TEN-MILE RACE (Received February 9, 9.15 a.m.) , SYDNEY, This Day. ' The Empire cycling time trial (1000 metres) ; held last night resulted: R. Porter (Australia), Imin 15.2 sec, 1; T. Johnson (Australia^, Imin 15.7 sec, 2; E. V. Mills (Englarid), Imin 15.9 sec, 3.! R. S. Ulmer, Imin 16.6 sec, was sixth; R. T. Taylor, Imin 16.7 sec, seventh; and G. R. Giles, Imin 17.3 sec, ninth. These three are New Zealanders. . The result of the ten miles scratch race was:—W. Maxfield (England), 1; R. Hicks (England^, 2; Rose (South Africa), 3. Time, 24min' 44sec. Gilesl and Ulmer retired with punctures.
