RACES AT PAREMATA

Squally southerly weather prevailed last Sunday when yacht races were held by the Paremata Boating Club. The first-class centreboard yachts and Idle Alongs were first away, and some close racing resulted. The lanthe sailed a good race, but in the latter stages hit a buoy and retired. Dora, Vixen, and Lois were very close together, and it was not until some heavy squalls hit the boats that Dora forged ahead to win by 2sec from Lois. Result:— Dora (4£min), 1; Lois (scr), 2; Vixen (s£min), 3. lanthe also started. Only three starters were on the line lor the Takapuna race, and it resolved itself into a procession. Noleen sailed a good race until she came on the run, when she went all over the bay and lost a lot of ground. Twink outsailed Robin on the beat and crossed the finishing line a good first. Result:—Twink (lmin), 1; Robin i (lmin), 2; Noleen (scr), 3.
