CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS

(By Telegraph—Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, January 23. At the Taranaki Caledonian games at Hawera on Saturday the New Zealand Highland reel championship was won by June Scott, Palmerston North, with D. Bothwell second. The North Island championship, slow Highland airs, was won by Murdo Mackenzie, Masterton, with A. Kirkland, New Plymouth, second. In the North Island championship men's sword dance Bothwell was first and Claude Henderson second.
