VICTORIA LEAGUE
SOME GRATEFUL LETTERS
Very great pleasure has been given to the Victoria League members on account of the charming letters received in response to the Christmas parcels sent out by the committee. These parcels contained books and the wellmade toys which were the work of the girl members, and which were specially suitable for the very little children. Some of the letters have come from Otiria, Awakino Valley, Otoko, Mere Mere, Otaki Forks, Matiere, Raumati, and the Foxton district. The parcels were distributed mostly by rural mail delivery, and being unexpected gave the greatest pleasure. One small girl in writing her own letter made it into the form of a Christmas card by means of coloured chalks and' her own design. A mother tells of the half-dozen books with suitable stories for children which are all they have to come and go on, and expresses the great pleasure felt in getting some new material for the young ones. A very nice feeling is expressed in the letters as the writers suggest that as they have had a turn in the pleasure and advantage of the gifts of various kinds others, whose addresses they give, are in even more lonely situations and would be glad of something from the league to cheer them. It is altogether a most interesting and advantageous part of the work of the league.
