ANNIVERSARY NIGHT

AQUATIC CLUBS' DANCES

Follwing the yachting regatta, which for the first time in twenty years was held at the northern / end of Port Nicholson, the dance ' given by the Heretaunga Yachting Club on Saturday night was an exceedingly popular function and attracted a large attendance, chiefly from Port Nicholson, Plimmerton, Paremata, Evans Bay, and Worser Bay Clubs, including many visiting yachtsmen and spectators of the regatta. The dance was most enjoyable, the orchestra and supper arrangements being excellent, and the visitors carried away a happy impression of Petone waterfront en fete. The officers and committee of the Heretaunga Club were hosts and comprised the following members: Commodore R. Tegg, Vice-Commodore L. McWha, Rear-Commodore P. Edney, Messrs. R. M. White (secretary and

treasurer), J. McLellari, H. Taylor, C. Bird, and J. Douglas. They were assisted by ari extremely capable ladies'! committee in charge of the supper who comprised Mesdames G. Fraser (wearing blue mariette), S. E. Cattell (floral silk linen), A. Aldred (printed crepe), Douglas (floral crepe), 'C. .Harrison (blue net over patterned ninon), and Miss J. Taylor (white and blue printed I voile). Mr. R. White, as M.C., contributed much to the success of the evening. Among the many present were Mr. j and Mrs. J. At the Petone Rowing Club the weekly dance drew an unusually large number and the ■ excellent arrangements made (including the ladies' dance orchestra, which Mr. F. McLoughlin as M.C. and the tempting supper provided by the ladies' committee) combined to produce a splendid evening's entertainment. On the committees were Mesdames A.' E.
