The Hon. V. E. Barnard, Speaker of the House of Representatives, arrivecl at Wellington from the south yesterday. The Leader of the Opposition (the Hon. A. Hamilton) arrived in Wellington from the south yesterday. He will leave tomorrow for Hastings, and will return to Wellington on Wednesday. ' Mr. J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Undersecretary to the Minister of Finance, left Wellington this morning to ( ' visit the Wairarapa, Hawke's Bay, Gisborne, and. King Country districts. Sir Thomas and. La.dy Wilford will leave for England by the Mataroa on Saturday, and in the meantime will visit Wanganui. Mr. S. Russell, accountant of the Intercolonial Boring Company, Brisbane, is visiting Wellington. Mr. A. G. Barnett, General Manager of the Wellington Harbour Board, re. turned to his duties today after his vacation.' •Mr. ~F. H- Newcombe, of Castleeliff, celebrated his 90th birthday on Saturday. Although undergoing special treatment gt the hospital, he spent his birthday with his daughter, Miss M, Newcombe.
