The appointment of Major-General E. A. Beck as director of personal ser-, vices at the War Office was gazetted tonight, as also was the appointment of Colonel G. le Q. Martel'as deputydirector of mechanisation at the War Office. Colonel Martel is best known as the originator of the light tank.
