SMALL LOCAL OFFERING
At the sale of hides and sheepskins held in Wellington yesterday small catalogues were submitted to the usual buyers. Competition for sheepskins was good, but- prices generally were id to id down, with an occasional line making last sale's price. Heavy, ox hides sold on a par-with' recent'prices, but light and medium sorts—together with all weights of cow—were l-8d to .id lower. , Kip and yearling declined by id per lb, but calfskins were firm
The range of prices is as follows— Dry sheepskins.—Fine crossbred, 5Jd to 9d a lb; medium, 7d to BJd; coarse, 6,?d to Bid,-half wopls, 5Jd to 7:]; quarter wools. 5d to 5Jd; pelts. 3d to ,54d.
Salted skins.—Pelts, Is Id each; quarter wools, 2s 4d; full wools, 7s 3d; lambs, 2s 4d.
