THE AGA KHAN'S SIRES
HH the Aga Khan,' who'at first entered the realm of racing mainly ns a racehorse owner, now figures as one of the leading breeders in England and France. Among his stallions in England, Bahram commands the exceptional fee of 500 guineas. The only other horse standing at present at that fee is Solario. . Another of the Aga Khan's Derby winners. Mahmbud, is full for the present year at 300 guineas, and Dastur has a full subscription at £198, which is also the fee for the Gold Cup winner Felicitation. Most of the Aga Khan's mares arc at the stud in Ireland, but he also has a large number in France. His stallions in that country are the St. Leger winner Firdaussi, the Derby second Tai Akbar, and that good-stayer Sind. Recently Le Grand Due. who was. third in the Derby,', left Ne\vmarket .for Belgium, where he is likely to.-- be in great demand as. a stallion. -.-. >
Sylvan will do much to' increase ia«J: tercst in these races.
PLENTY OF NOVICES,
At some meetings in the past thet. club did not receive- strong support ! for its maiden pacers' events, but-on. this occasion i the nominations are the \ best on the whole card, and as they, ■ come from all the main training centres, keen contests look assured.
The improvers' events have also- ■ drawn excellent fields. Fremont, Ivy, ' Peterson, Intrigue, Ropata, Gold Pot, Doubt, Petit Jewel, Laurene- Wood, ; Logan Palm, Zincali, and Ferry Post i are some recent form horses who will" ' make for a knotty problem. .
The 3min 28sec events .must have | come well up to the club's most san- I guine hopes.' There is a wealth' of ' talent to draw from and 'some of the ,' most promising pacers in commission are nominated. It is only necessary to ■' point to Southern Chief, Silver Guy, Molly Direct, Ginger Jack, Nawton Parrish, Starwyn, Musketeer, Bing Crosby, Great Divide, Sports Review, Trevor do Oro, Superior Rank, and Heather Queen to be assured of the success ,of the club's departure from. I the traditional sprint events to con*t'-' elude the day's racing.
