Cerne Abbas had her last race for some time on Thursday, probably for the season. Her intended nomination for the Sydney Cup is to be cancelled. The influence of Australian buyers at the National Yearling Sales was shown by the fact that they bought thirty-one lots for a total of 9820 Owing to the omission of the figure "i," the Australian and New Zealand record for a mile was given in yesterday's columns as lmin 35sec, instead of lmin 35i-sec. Four horses jointly hold this record—Peter Pan, Sarcherie, Ajax, and Ramdin. The Hunting Song colt from Callisto, a sister to Gallio, was passed at 700 guineas at the National Sales on Wednesday,' but later was taken by Mr W. A. lorns at the reserve of 750 guineas. 'He will probably be trained by J. H. Jefferd. ■ Paddy the Rip is the name of the Whirlwind—Danae gelding in F. D. Smith's stable at Takanini He was bred by Mr. Norman Wade, and at one time was at the stud in the Far Mal'de Mer.'-who has for some time been trained at Avondale, has joined £ Tucker's team at Ellerslie By Tidal —Sicilian, Mai de Mer is a brother to Flood Tide, but he' has not yet jap£>roached the class of his relative,
although he has shown promise on occasions.
The Romney—Thurnley gelding in F. Gilchrist's stable at'EUerslie is not being hurried, but he is making good headway and should soon be ready to race. This maiden is no other than a three-quarter-sister to Kelly's dam, Joy Queen, and he is said to be built on very soiid lines.
Six of liimond's last crop of foals were offered by Mr. G. M. Currie at the National Sales on Wednesday" and they made a total of 2915 guineas. The top price of 1000 guineas was for the brother, to Agrion and Waikare. Mr. Currie also offered four by his new Colorado horse ' Ringmaster, and they brought a total of 2550. guineas. The top price of this lot was 850 guineas for the Impetuous colt.

Prior to the racing commencing at the Vincent Jockey Club's Meeting on Saturday, Mr. F. Shaw, . ownertrainer of Adina, sold the Rosenor gelding to Mr. A. Ferguson, of Dunedin. The new owner did not have long to wait to secure a return on his outlay, for Adina won "the flnar event after leading practically throughout.
