REMAND ON THEFT CHARGE

A remand for one week was granted William Henry Gardiner, aged 49, who appeared in the Magistrate's Court today, before Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., charged with the theft on January 21 of a wicker basket, hot water bag, bathing costume, and other articles, of a total value of £1 17s 6d, the property of some person or persons unknown. Sub-Inspector J. A. Dempsey said that the defendant was alleged to have taken the articles from a motor-car. Other matters were being investigated.
